Fashion-hungry enthusiasts find annual Fashion Week events to be like all of the rest of our traditional holidays rolled into one; there's nothing better for chic devotees than a mash-up of sequins, stick-thin models, and high-styled runways. This year, Mercedes-Benz will again be the head sponsor for the annual Fall Fashion Week at the LINCOLN Center in NYC. In connection with this sponsorship, the German luxury auto manufacturer will air special advertisements and also reach out to communities around New York City through support and educational initiatives. The show will feature both well-loved fashion names and new, trendy designers.

You might be wondering why a luxury auto manufacturer would decide to sponsor such an event? The answer is simple: both Mercedes-Benz and the Fall Fashion Week event revolve around creating iconic looks within their industries.

As part of the sponsorship, Mercedes-Benz has released a new advertisement featuring Dutch fashion model Lara Stone and the 2013 Mercedes-Benz 2013 SL which Autoblog calls "a vid that only those attending Fashion Week could understand. Which is, probably, half the point."¹ We have to agree. The ad features Stone unloading suitcases from the sporty SL car and then being slowly swept away by a tornado in Oz-like fashion. While both the car and model are aesthetically pleasing, we question why Stone leaves her beautiful Mercedes-Benz M-Class car behind as she waits for takeoff in the tornado. With speed like that, we would have liked to see her outrun the twister!
